European legislation governing packaging is changing rapidly. BPA, PFAS, PPWR, REACH and CLP: several regulations are introducing or preparing new requirements concerning packaging composition, labelling and recyclability.
Companies face a dual challenge: ensuring that products placed on the market comply with the applicable requirements and anticipating changes relating to materials, coatings and components well in advance.
From 20 July 2026, the EU will restrict the use of bisphenol A (BPA) in food-contact materials under specific chemical regulations. From 12 August 2026, the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will introduce extensive sustainability requirements and strict limits on PFAS content in food packaging. Both regulatory frameworks aim to restrict the use of harmful substances in order to improve consumer safety and the safety of waste recycling.
Water-Based Dispersion Materials.
We can confirm that our water-based dispersion materials are free from fluorinated surfactants (PFAS) and BPA-based epoxy resins and fully comply with the new European regulations.
UV-Curing Materials.
To meet the requirements of the PPWR Declaration, the waxes used in our popular matt varnishes have been completely replaced with PFAS-free products.
Low-migration varnishes for food packaging have also been developed. They ensure that the photoinitiator content on the reverse side of the packaging is reduced to virtually zero and fully comply with the new safety regulations.
